MSMAS Judo gains Club Mark 'Bronze' Award for excellence...

MSMAS Judo have at last received confirmation of our 'Bronze' Award ...

MSMAS Judo have at last received the formal Certificate of the 'Bronze' Award in Club Mark after months of hard work (thanks AJ) ..

Club Mark is a cross-sport 'Quality Accreditation' for Judo Clubs with Junior sections.

According to research conducted by the Northwest Regional Development Agency in 2004, 60% of young people belong to a sports club outside school.

As such it is vital these clubs serve young people well.

Club Mark:

Ensure the well-being of young people whilst in the care of adults, other than their legal parent(s)/carer(s).
Enthuse young people to enjoy sport and active recreation to build a healthy and active lifestyle.
Enable young people to use their leisure time creatively.
Allow young people to optimise their talents and personal ability.
Identify and support the development of the most talented young people.

The National Governing Body for Judo in the UK is the British Judo Association, which awards 'Club Mark' Bronze, Silver & Gold Awards to Judo Groups in the UK.

The national scheme has been in place since 2002 and there are now almost 4,000 accredited clubs across 29 sports. Club Mark aims that by the end of 2008 this will have increased to 5,000 and that Clubmark will be the stamp of approval to which all sports clubs should aspire.

All organisations involved in accrediting clubs are subject to a licensing process, following the recommendations of the Clubmark Review (March 2006). This highlighted the need for cross sport moderation, robustness and integrity within the system. The licence is designed to ensure that all organisations involved work to a minimum operating framework and can prove it. This will help to establish Clubmark as the mark of high quality junior clubs.

More about 'Club Mark'...

'Sport England' recognises and values the commitment made by sports clubs to develop high quality, welcoming environments for young participants. The development of clubs that encourage young people to take-up sport, improve their talents, possibly play a leadership role and give them the option to initiate and maintain life-long participation in sport is an essential part of supporting the sporting infrastructure in England.

'Clubmark' was introduced in 2002 by 'Sport England' to:

Ensure that accrediting partners apply core common criteria to ensure that consistent good practice and minimum operating standards are delivered through all club development and accreditation schemes.

To empower parent(s)/carer(s) when choosing a club for their children.
To ensure that Clubmark accredited clubs are recognised through a common approach to branding.
To provide a focus around which all organisations involved in sport can come together to support good practice in sports clubs working with children and young people.

Clubmark accreditation is awarded to clubs that comply with minimum operating standards in four areas:

The playing programme
Duty of care and child protection
Sports equity and ethics
Club management
