James Bibby Renshi, Deputy Dojo Head at The Mid Sussex Martial Arts School was able to return to the UK just before airspace was closed, after having successfully leading a Martial Arts ‘Gasshuku’ close to Washington DC, USA.

Day 1: Bibby Renshi was asked to watch the participants before offering suggestions as to how to incorporate Judo into their existing training programme. This proved to be a perfect, as the participants enjoyed the Judo and are now trying hard to incorporate it into their existing “full spectrum” sparring which incorporates standing techniques, takedowns and ground work.

Day 2: This saw a trek up ‘Bull Run Mountain’ then back in the Dojo where Bibby Renshi assisted in the physical testing of the participants, who all performed well.  Bibby Renshi was then presented with a plaque an official Mon to mark the Gasshuku thus far.

Day 3: Bibby Renshi took the participants through various drills, and then tested participants unable to attend on Day 2.

Wright Sensei, who arranged the Gasshuku, said afterwards:

“We can’t express our thanks enough.”

Commenting, Roger Payne, MSMAS Founder & Dojo Head said:

“As I was unable to lead this Gasshuku myself, it was a great opportunity for James Bibby Renshi, Deputy Dojo Head at MSMAS, to travel to the USA to teach at this Gasshuku.
Our worldwide connections mean so much to us and to have been invited again, proves to us that our Dojo has much to offer.
Here in Sussex we can offer our ‘FREE’ MSMAS Judo Programme, open to all young people across Mid Sussex. For Adults we can offer Judo, traditional Aikido, Iaido & Kendo. As such we feel we are well placed to welcome everyone, young and old, experienced to Novice, plus of course complete beginners…
Just give us a call on 01444 318422.”
