MSMAS Novice Junior Judo Players from our 'FREE' Judo Programme compete for the first time...

A small selection from our large number of Junior Novice Red Belt Judo Players competed today at the 'NHC Red Belt Rumble' at High Wycombe for the first time ever...

What a day…!

First time out and Medals & experience all the way … !!

Girls:

• Erin Leahy         Gold      -50
• Katie Howard   Silver     -44
• Niamh Leahy     Bronze  -32

Boys:

• Dylan Howell     Bronze  -50
• Fin Bazard         Bronze  -29
• George Hands   Bronze  -25

Plus 'Participation Certificates' to Louis Hope, Daniel Hope, Jack Murphy & Jordan Mayes...

These 10 Junior Novice Judo Players were drawn from our large ‘Free’ Judo Mat, where MSMAS is able to offer totally free Judo training to any young person in Sussex.

Unlike some ‘competition’ based Judo Clubs, at MSMAS the safety of our Players is paramount, especially for our Junior and Youth.

Placing a Player with limited training into events not designed for their ability is, in my opinion, quite simply irresponsible, something MSMAS would never countenance.

As such, this Red Belt Competition result showed that our strategy is to be safe and correct.

Finally, my thanks to Cris Leahy for acting as ‘Coach on the Day’, plus also to our Parents, without whom, this day would not have been possible.”

Some initial Parental comments:

"Can I say a big thank you to Cris who was brilliant with the kids, everybody enjoyed the day. What struck me about all the children was the determination to succeed. Every single one of them did MSMAS proud as they all did their best, which is all you can really ask, certainly looks good for the future."

"Thanks to you and Cris also!! I think all our lot learned a lot today .."

"Taking into consideration the lack of confidence she had because bullies had been given her such a hard time, she has come a long way and it's all thanks to Judo, yourself and your collegues for giving her your time and knowledge so THANK YOU. The girls were bigger than her, I was worried, but she wasn't, so shows what good job MSMAS has done. XXXX absolutely loved it, we had a great day and can't wait for the next one."

"the fantastic Red belt rumble, what an experience.....It was everything you said and more. I was so proud of the kids and how they handled themselves - with respect, pride and confidence. So proud of Cris being our 'man' he was a consummate professional and all of them received so much guidance and encouragement - he is truly amazing. A very big thank you to you, your words stayed with XXXXXX until he got on the mat and knew that's when he was going to fight, he put his all in and was still talking about it as his eyes closed tonight!"
